S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. These are all areas in which children need strong skills in order to succeed. While many of the S.T.E.A.M. programs out there are aimed at older children, we created programs specifically for the youngest learners. Thanks to a generous grant from the Jacksonville Children's Foundation, we are now able to offer ongoing S.T.E.A.M. programming that will include animation, electronics, 3D printing and more!

Registration is required for these programs. You may stop by the Youth Services desk or call the library to register. Every month groups will learn about something different, but registration will be limited to five to allow for maximum hands-on time for everyone. Each session will take 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Little Learners is for kids in Kindergarten to 2nd grade and will meet the first Monday of each month at 4PM.
This group will learn how to program simple robots, work on logic skills and learn about the world around them.

Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead is for anyone in 2nd to 5th grade to join us on the fourth Friday of each month at 4PM. This group will explore the world of animation, robots, 3D printing, coding and so much more!

Geeky Girls is just for girls in 2nd to 5th grade and meets the third Friday of each month at 4PM. Girls in this age group often get the message that being good at math or science is not cool or that boys are better at math and science. In order to combat those negative ideas, we created Geeky Girls to ensure sure that they have the opportunity to explore and excel in those areas without social pressures. Young girls will build their leadership skills while exploring robots, 3D printing, coding, animation and more!

We hope that your children will enjoy the programming
we have created and will join us for:
  • Little Learners on the first Monday of each month at 4PM
  • Geeky Girls on the third Friday of each month at 4PM
  • Full STEAM Ahead on the fourth Friday of each month at 4PM
