Reading Takes You Everywhere

Into Fantastic Worlds!

Join us on a journey of our own making as we use our imagination to build a new place! Maybe even a place where a bull has something to say, like in the movie Ferdinand, which we will watch on Monday, June 18th at 9:30AM.

Tuesday, June 19th, we will have the wonderful Clothespin Puppets at 10AM put on a unique show like you have never seen before!

Wednesday, June 20th, we will start with Garden Club at 9:30AM, then move into Story Time at 10AM and 3PM where will read books about using your imagination.

Thursday, June 21st, we will be making a rainbow scarf as our Giving Craft and for ourselves, we will try out straw painting! Groups with four or more kids are invited to come at 9:30AM or 10:30AM, registration required. Those with less than four, are welcome to join us at 10AM, 11AM and 2PM, registration required.

Friday, June 22nd
, we will have Lap Sit for parents/caregivers with kiddos five and under at 10:15AM. Then on Friday afternoon, we will have an open STEAM time. Join us from 3-4PM to see what we have been learning about in our three new STEAM programs!

Reading Takes You Everywhere

Into the Winner's Circle!

Our K-6th grade reading log is a little different this year then it has been in the past. We have stickers for every 30 minutes you read. You can fill a row (going horizontal or vertically) to equal five hours of reading. When you finish a row, you can stop in for a prize!
We will have our prize machine again, so you never know what you will get!

When you finish half of the reading log, you will have read 25 hours! That will get you one entry for the Summer Reading Grand Prize - a trip for four to Chicago on Amtrak and passes to the museum of your choice! If you finish the other half of your reading log, you earn another entry!

Pre-K kids have a different reading log as well. For every two books you read to your child, you color in one of the books on the reading log. When you have two books colored in, you can stop in for a prize! You can pick the prize machine or an alternative prize.

Just about anything counts for reading time! Books, graphic novels, magazines, and listening to audio books or an adult reading to you counts for reading time. The only thing that does not count is watching movies!

A book in any format is acceptable, if you enjoy ebooks, you should check out our website for Overdrive and Libby, two great ways to get books!

Just remember you that you must be present at the Closing Party to win the Grand Prize!

Reading Takes You Everywhere
Summer Reading Program 2018

Reading for everyone! We have programs for preschoolers, kids in Kindergarten - 6th grade, and teens!

Join us for our kick-off event with musician 'Kevin Farris and the Infinite Possibilities' on Tuesday, May 29th at 10 AM!

We have movies on Mondays, entertainers on Tuesdays, story time on Wednesdays, crafts on Thursdays, preschool events on Fridays and family events on Saturdays!

It is all free of charge and you don't have to have a library card to take part!

We have some changes this year! Our crafts times and focus are changing. We have a lot of talent with all of the little hands who come to see up over the summer, so we thought that we should use that talent for good. Almost every week, we will have a "Giving Craft" that kids can make to give to others. We will be making scarves for the homeless, dog and cat toys for the animal shelter, bags for foster kids, and decorations for lonely folks in nursing homes. If your child wants, they can make another one to keep for themselves or we will have a different craft that they can make for themselves.

In addition to the craft focus, we are also changing the craft times. Our morning sessions are popular with families and large groups, so in an effort to get the most effective use of our staff and your time, we are going to have as many craft sessions in the mornings as possible. We will have craft times for large groups at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM, with craft sessions reserved for families and smaller groups (up to four kids) at 10 AM, 11 AM and 2 PM.
